Alabaster Offering:
In a service focused on offering God our personal worship, we concluded the message with the story of the woman who anoints Jesus’ feet with precious ointment from an alabaster jar and an extravagant act of adoration (Luke 7). We had distributed small cards cutout in the shape of an ancient jar and we invited people to write out a prayer of adoration to God while someone sang the song “All I See” by Sarah Kelly . We had three free-standing crosses surrounded by throw rugs set up on the platform and we invited people to come up and kneel down or fall down at the foot of the cross and pour out their “jars” of adoration to Jesus by placing their cards there. During this time we sang songs like “We Fall Down” and “Heart of Worship” which combined with people falling down at the crosses created a powerful experience. |
