Repentance Windows
During a series on the Prodigal Son we focused one week on the u-turn of repentance. During Communion, following a time of personal confession, we invited people to go to the back of our worship center and write their name on the windows with dry-erase markers in the same way that a confessing criminal has to sign their written confession to make it valid. After communion we invited everyone to turn around and face the back of the worship space. While we pronounced Christ’s forgiveness of our sins we watched as ushers used squeegees to wipe away our names from the record of guilt that stood against us. Then everyone was invited to turn back to the cross and enter into a time of joyful celebration. (If you don’t have windows in the back of your worship space this could be done with large white boards) |
